International Women's Day
International Women’s Day is celebrated worldwide on March 8th every year. Its historical roots go back to 1909, and it has been celebrated by the United Nations since 1977. International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate and honor women and their achievements.
P.E.O. International encourages all P.E.O.s to recognize International Women’s Day. In 2021, Washington State Chapter was honored to have International Peace Scholarship recipient, Sol Vidal Almela from Spain, present a very special program. At that time, Sol was studying at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario. She studied in Spain and in the United Kingdom prior to coming to Canada. Sol was pursuing a PhD in Human Kinetics with an emphasis on women’s cardiovascular health. Sol encouraged all of us to make exercise fun – she said to choose activities that you enjoy and that fit your age, your health, and your activity level. And have fun while you see the benefits of being active!
We hope you enjoy this presentation!
